Torticollis

I've been concerned for a while now because Kaia has been developing a flat head on her left side. She had a well-baby appointment a couple weeks ago and the pediatrician referred me to a physical therapist for an evaluation. Turns out she has Torticollis or "twisted neck." Check out this website for more info. One side of her neck muscles are too short and the other side is too long so it makes her hold her head cock-eyed thus resulting in the flat head since she's always laying to one side. We're going to have to go in once a week for therapy to strengthen both muscles and get her to hold her head straight. Thank goodness her's is a fairly mild case but still its important to fix the problem now so it doesn't develop and become worst as she gets older. The therapist didn't say how long we'd have to do treatment but this website says until she's crawling or even walking so it could be a while. It is also going to be important for me to do some exercises with her and try and work those muscles. A long process, I'm sure! But at least we've diagnosed a problem and there is a treatment!

While sitting, standing or laying down this is the position that her head naturally reverts to.

My Cousin had that when she was born, my aunt and uncle took her to a chiropractor and he fixed the problem. Just a motherly suggestion!! :)
