Rafting the Lower Rogue

Ryan and I were invited to raft the Lower Rogue River with Mitch this year. Ryan has been before but I've never gone so we left the girls with Nancy and caught a ride with Harvey, Sheri and Barb. It was awesome!!!

We left early Friday morning

At the boat launch getting everything set up and ready to put in the water

I was a little nervous at this point. I had absolutely no idea what to expect.

Barb, Ryan and Mitch

Barb, Sheri and Harvey

Stopping for lunch on Day 1

See that nice little scratch just below his right knee? He sustained that injury while bringing me a Snapple...what a guy!

There were turtles sunning themselves on rocks all along the edge of the river

Zane Grey's cabin

Walking up to Marial Lodge where we were served delicious dinner, breakfast, hot showers and beds.

Mitch acting dead. He doesn't realize that he is actually old enough to be dead!

Sheri and Mitch trying to sharpen an old nail.

In the dining area of the lodge

Starting out on Day 2

Pete and Phoebe had the top of their cooler ripped off by a bear during the night. Apparently he was going for the beer as there are a nice set of claw marks in it.

Going through Mule Creek Canyon

Blossom Bar

Harvey, Sheri and Barb coming through Blossom Bar

Imagine how high the water had to get for that log to get lodged on the rocks

Ryan rowed for a bit...trying to strengthen his arm up for salmon fishing this summer!

Then I did some rowing. We basically just went around in circles. Its harder than it looks!

Jet boats come up the Rogue to deliver mail and give people scenic tours.

Dinosaur tree

Ryan wanted to get a picture of me holding on to the rope. Even though I wasn't nervous beyond the first hour or so, I still felt better with a lifeline to hold on to. You never know!

We had such an awesome trip! My pictures cannot even come close to capturing the beauty of the Rogue River much less Mule Creek Canyon which is now on my top 5 list of most beautiful places. If you ever get invited to raft the Rogue, please don't turn it down. It is amazing and gorgeous!

How amazingly fun this trip looks...I have only gone on raft trips that last a few hours and they were fun...I cannot imagine how beautiful it would have been.
