Ryan took off Antelope hunting on Thursday so I went over to Mom and Dad's for the weekend. Rachel and Gabe were the only ones there as M & D had gone to Prineville to go camping so we just hung out, went shopping and ate lots of food. Sunday afternoon I went out to dump the chicken scraps in the backyard and saw a hen with at least 3 little chicks following her. They were hiding in the bushes next to the barn and obviously had just hatched that day or the day before. Once the dogs figured out they were there there would be no more chicks so we had to get them! Rachel and I then spent the next hour trying to round up the Mama Hen and the 4 little chicks. We got the chicks in the separate coop and cornered the hen in the main coop where we found another hen guarding another chick! So we finally caught those 3 and stuck them in the other area. Well, apparently you dont put 2 hens together in a small area with 5 chicks because not 1 minute later the hens started fighting to the death! We got them separated and left all the chicks with the 1st hen who must have been the mother to all 5 because she took them all under her and there hasn't been a problem since! Needless, to say it was very exciting and Zoe and Gabe loved looking at the "chick chicks!"

Oh yes! We LOVE chinese food!
